What We Take

Piano Removal

We remove upright, spinet, console and baby grand pianos, including down a flight of stairs. An upright is typically our quarter load because of the weight and the crew time, not the volume. There is no disposal surcharge on a piano. We quote it on-site after seeing the instrument and the path out.

Disposal fee
None

No transfer-station surcharge applies to this item. The load price is the whole price.

How we get it out

Pianos are the one item where the route matters more than the weight. We walk the path first, protect the floors and door casings, and move it on a dolly with straps. Grands come off their legs before they move.

Where it goes afterwards

Playable instruments are offered for donation where a local organisation will take one. Most pianos that get removed are past restoration, and those are broken down so the cast-iron plate and steel wire are recycled.

Booking it

Call (774) 230-8388 or book online. You get a price before the work starts, and it does not change afterwards. This falls under our furniture removal service if you have more than one item going.

Piano Removal questions

How much does piano removal cost? +

An upright typically lands in our quarter truck load, whose rate is on the pricing page. It is priced for the crew time and care rather than the space it takes. A baby grand or a difficult stairway route is quoted on-site.

Can you take a piano down stairs? +

Yes, and it is the usual case. We walk the route before we lift, protect the floor and the door casings, and use straps and a piano dolly.

Is my piano worth anything? +

Most old uprights are not — restoration costs several times what the instrument is worth. If yours is playable and in reasonable shape, tell us and we will try to place it with a local organisation first.

Do you need to disassemble it? +

Uprights usually go out whole. Grands come off their legs and go out on their side, on a board.
